What We Do PDF Print E-mail

We are very proud of the fact that we have 11 dedicated trainers. They provide the club with a wealth of experience. They all give their time freely, helping many dogs and owners of the last 15 years the the club has been running.

Frome DTC uses a reward based training, which is fun for both the owner and the dog.

We do not use choke chains, slip leads or other punishment-based training methods.

No dog is turned away, and we will gladly try and help anyone/dog that is having problems with their dog/owner! After all the combined experience of the trainers totals more than 100 years!!

Or call into Hill House Equestrian Centre on a Monday evening from 7pm.

The classes that we run are:

Puppy Classes - socialisation, basic obedience and Kennel Club Good Citizen Foundation Puppy Course.

Obedience - socialisation and obedience for a well mannered dog.

Competition obedience - training to competition standard.

Clicker training - obedience with the aid of a 'clicker' (the clicker helps a dog to understand that he is producing the correct behaviour).

Agility - running, jumping, climbing and balancing (it beats chasing a stick).

Tricks - from waving to dancing! (who needs a ball).

Kennel Club Good Citizen Award Scheme - we are now running courses and holding test days for all tree levels.

Induction days - we regularly hold induction days, to assess and place new dogs into the club. Due to the new training facility we do not need to hold induction days any more. Please just turn up at 7 pm and ask for Liam.
